DEMOCRAT FOR CONGRESS
5.  The biggest tragedy was that Congress voted for war. They fell for it. A handful of very smart extremists, with
an agenda, duped our president and the Congress. It wouldn't have happened if we'd had more natural leaders in
office. Sen. Dianne Feinstein studied the intelligence briefings and boldly stated to the Bush Administration,"...there
is no new evidence of Saddam having nuclear devices…there is no imminent threat."  If one woman could see it,
(she actually read the report) why didn't the others?  Any politician who voted for this war should NOT be
reelected. Chris Shays voted for this war.

6.  Six years later, a half million people are dead. What the Neocon agenda fails to take into consideration with its
aggressive "war for peace" campaign is that nuclear weapons are the great equalizer and that a handful of angry
men in a bar or a mosque can cause as much destruction as a nation. If you don't get to the root cause of why
people in the Middle East want to kill us, you are not solving anything -  just building more rage and more anti-
American sentiment with the bloodshed. Make an effort,
any effort, to diffuse the  reasons for the rage.

7.  Here's some insight into the heart-and-soul of the rage: In "The 9/11 Commission" report page 162, one of the
9/11 bombers, Marwin al Shehhi was reportedly asked why he and his roommate Mohammad Atta, never
laughed.  He said, "How can you laugh when people are dying in Palestine?"

Demand from Israel a resolution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Richard Clark, former
counterterrorism czar, once said, "...peace achieve there and hatred for America would evaporate
overnight."

Now that would actually make us safer. Withdrawal from Iraq wouldn't hurt toward that goal either.

End this war immediately.

This war was never about any imminent threat to the US. It was about ideology and the agenda
of a few - the extremist, radical Neoconservatives. They are NOT Conservative and they do
NOT represent mainstream Americans. This must never happen again!  Read about the
Neocons:

The order of events:

1.  The Neocons formed "Project for The New American Century" and sent the following letter to President
Clinton during his presidency: The letter asks him to take action against Iraq for control of the Middle East. Clinton
being bright, said "No, it's not a good idea."
http://www.newamericancentury.org/iraqclintonletter.htm

2.  Next the Neocons used 9/11 as their chance to get their agenda through even though Iraq had nothing to do
with 9/11. The surrounded George Bush and, according to Bob Woodward, Paul Wolfowitz was "like a drum that
would not stop" in his insistence that Bush take action against Iraq. Colin Powell said, this is "lunacy...you don't
have to be bullied into this" but Bush was. The Neocons had convinced him it would be an easy and fast victory
and Bush fell for it. Next they needed to convince the Congress...

3.  Judith Miller, a
New York Times reporter and the former girlfriend of one of the major Neocons, wrote articles
citing yellowcake uranium out of Niger as proof of Iraq having "Weapons of Mass Destruction." This has all since
been proven false but at the time all the members of the press jumped on the bandwagon and didn't verify the facts
(read about it on the
Bill Moyers Report link on the home page of this website.)

4.  Joseph Wilson, former ambassador, wrote an editorial stating that there was no attempt by Iraq to purchase
yellowcake uranium and that the Bush Administration was twisting the facts. Angry that their little plot would be
uncovered, or worse, that the public might realize that the president had been played, the Bush Administration
retaliated against Joseph Wilson by outing his wife, Valarie Plame, a CIA agent.
